Freedom

Freedom

Wild like the wind.

Sallie Gardner at a Gallop

'The Horse in Motion' is a series of cabinet cards by Eadweard Muybridge.

Released in 1878, they are considered to be

among the first motion pictures ever created.

For reference, the first animated short film,

'The Humpty Dumpty Circus', was released 20 years later.

One of these cards, 'Sallie Gardner at a Gallop', has always stood out to me.
'Freedom' is my reinterpretation of this iconic 19th-century work.

If I could change any detail from the original,
it would be to remove the jockey,

leaving only the free animal.
